One-on-One Creative Mentorship
Get personalized, one-on-one guidance built around your goals, your work, and your creative direction. Together, we strengthen ideas, refine portfolios, explore Motion, AI, and 3D, and develop work that feels distinctly your own.
Past mentees like Alexia and Mike have used mentorship to push their creative work further, develop new skills, and bring ambitious projects to life.
It’s not a course or a template. It’s real creative direction, feedback, and support.
Mentorship SPOTLIGHT: Dylan Across
During our mentorship, I worked with him to strengthen his creative direction, storytelling, and AI-assisted workflow. My role was to help him clarify his ideas, push beyond the first solution, and think more intentionally about how concept, design, and motion work together.
For his final project, he created a social media campaign exploring community and affordable housing, using motion graphics to show how stable housing can strengthen families and communities.
Throughout the process, I guided him in using AI for ideation, style frames, storyboarding, and exploring visual directions before moving into animation.
Student Reflection
“This mentorship gave me a new perspective on how AI can be integrated into the design process. I learned to explore ideas faster, push beyond the obvious, and develop new ways of thinking that I’ll carry into my design practice.”
AI-Assisted Style Frames
Dylan used AI-assisted style frames to explore composition, color, mood, and visual direction before moving into animation.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Max Lilien
Max entered my Motion Graphics AI course with no previous After Effects experience, but his work quickly stood out for its sophistication, creative vision, and ability to push each assignment beyond the expected.
For his final project, he created Afterglow, a cinematic luxury fragrance campaign built around the scent notes fig, salt, and cedar. He combined typography, imagery, transitions, depth, camera movement, sound, and AI-assisted concept development to create a cohesive brand experience.
One of my favorite parts of the process was helping him think about how motion itself could communicate each scent—soft and organic for fig, dissolving or crystallizing for salt, and grounded and structured for cedar.
Student Reflection
By the end of the quarter, he reflected, “The class gave me a much better understanding of what’s possible in motion design and made me want to keep pushing my skills further.”
Watching that growth—from no After Effects experience to a sophisticated final brand film—was incredibly rewarding.
Student Spotlight: Jesssica Mikhail
UCLA Extension Student Spotlight: Jesssica Mikhail entered
In my Motion Graphics with AI Integrated Toolset course, Jessica created a colorful animated children’s book filled with playful characters, and visual storytelling. Her work brought together many of the motion-design skills she developed through out the quarter while creating something fun, imaginative, and engaging for a young audience.
One of the things I enjoyed most was seeing her use animation to support the story. Her understanding of timing, movement, pacing, and character helped bring the illustrations to life and gave the project its own personality.
Student Reflection
By the end of the quarter, she reflected on how much she had learned about using easing, timing, spacing, and movement to create weight and emotion in animation—and she left excited to explore more advanced motion design.
It was wonderful watching her develop her skills and use them to create such a joyful, story-driven final project..
